maioHow to Tap into WPS Writer's Power
WPS Writer is a powerful word processing application bringing a range of advanced features designed to enhance productivity and efficiency in users. One of these features is the use of macros, but unfortunately, WPS Writer does not natively support macros like its counterpart Microsoft Word. However, we can create an unique workaround to macros using a combination of WPS Writer's built-in features, such as AutoText, AutoFormat, and Keyboard Shortcut.
Below are some steps to create an auto-repeat function, a limited alternative to macros:
Initiate the Process with AutoText Function
To start using the auto-text function in WPS Writer, go to ‘Tools’ and click ‘AutoInsert’. Then, click on ‘Insert’ to create your auto-text entry.
Input the text that you wish to auto-repeat in the ‘Input’ box, and then save the new AutoText entry. To repeat the text, go back to ‘Settings’, select ‘AutoInsert’, choose your saved/auto-text, and place the cursor where you want to insert the auto-text.
You can easily modify AutoText entries by double-clicking on the AutoText in the AutoText list and editing the ‘Insertion’ text. AutoText entries can be edited at any time by right-clicking the AutoText in the AutoText drop-down menu, then choose ‘Modify AutoText’
To make the most of AutoText, it's recommended that you restrict entries to the key ones that you most frequently use. To use it more effectively for rapid insertion of text, you can set a shortcut key to add the saved auto text to your document by selecting it in the drop-down menu and pressing the shortcut key to assign to the text.
Alternative Approach AutoFormat
Another method is to use WPS Writer's AutoFormat feature, which can be set up to automatically format text according to certain criteria. Click on ‘Tools’, choose ‘AutoFormat’, and select ‘Text Style’ to open the ‘Format Options’ window.
In the ‘Format Options’ window, you have several options. Click the ‘Format’ dropdown menu, which will give you a list of various word styles including titles, headings, subheadings, and normal headings, and conclusively set up the criteria for the auto-format applied to the text.
Select ‘Open Format Change Window Again On Start’, that can displays the AutoFormat settings every time you start WPS Writer so you can recall the auto-format settings you previously customized.
Finally, use the 'Tools' drop-down to activate the auto-apply filter using hotkeys.
