As time passes, the handles on your doors will wear out and need to be changed. It is crucial to be able to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.

The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw's position as well as the key hole and lever dimensions. Refer to the size guide for assistance with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever door handle is a modern handle that can be used on new or replacement doors. This kind door handle is offered in a variety of styles & finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of sturdy materials and are ideal for multi point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and operate with the same spindle as well as screw fixings. They are easily installed on new or existing upvc door handles replacement/Composite doors.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to accommodate all users. The handle for double glazed window has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The lever that is sprung can be reduced to accommodate a wider range of locks. This is useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is further back in the door. A shorter lever can be used on doors that have a latch that can be opened by the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles commonly found on doors. The handle can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are typically employed on UPVC double glazed doors. They come in many variations & finishes.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in various finishes including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.

All UPVC lever pads for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on a uPVC conservatory door handles. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is typically a benefit when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which eliminate the issue of door handles that sag out of horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is crucial to match the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also referred to as the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the correct handles.

After you have determined the proper PZ size it is important to ensure that the lever and push pads are shaped to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. They are typically round or square, with an internal lever and an external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads that we sell are sprung. This means they will return to a horizontal position after not in use instead of hanging, and possibly sticking in the frame. This keeps draughts out of the building. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed models, allowing them to be placed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are typically used on uPVC doors, but can also be used on other types of door. The cylinder lock operates with a key that unlocks the cylinder case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned with those in the lock, and permit them to turn the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is crucial; it depends on the way your door and handle are used. External doors, for example, should be fitted with cylinders that are more secure while doors inside can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders come with additional features that increase security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump features.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in its position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks, such as lock snapping, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.

The design of the latest cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This can help to deflect attacks and keep your door safe.

Some cylinders are designed to withstand snapping. This is a growing method of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is attacked using a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is a faster and more convenient method of gaining access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located in the base of your door handle backplate providing a sprung solution to return the multipoint lock handles back to their original position after use. In the past, a lot of handles of this kind didn't have a spring built into them, and without it they can droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is removed. Adding this simple component is one of the most effective ways to fix this and it is also an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in either closed or open position, as these are not always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes are specially designed for use with sprung multipoint locks, they will not fit non-sprung multipoint handles. You must have a hole specifically cut in your backplate in order for them to fit (please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement to broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are sold as one unit. They have a square-cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes are a fantastic cost-effective solution to the issue of handles on your doors sagging. These spring cassettes are easy to install and will extend the life of your uPVC Patio door handle replacement.
